Our Privacy Statement
Serendib Financial Pty Ltd (“Serendib”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to providing you with the highest levels of customer service and to protecting your privacy. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”), which sets out a number of principles concerning the protection of your personal information known as Australian Privacy Principals.
This Privacy Statement sets out the type of information we collect, how we use it, and who we may share it with. It may be amended from time to time.
APP 1 — Open and transparent management of Personal Information
Serendib manages personal information in an open and transparent way. We collect personal information only for the agreed service-i.e., remittances to Sri Lanka. Serendib does not use personal information for any other purpose. Personal information is collected when the user sends a registration form to create an account with us.
APP 2 — Anonymity and pseudonymity
We may collect personal identification information from users of our site, our services in several ways, including, but not limited to, when users visit our site, fill out the registration request form, and in connection with other services, i.e. remit money to Sri Lanka. Users may, however, visit our site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. If the user does not willingly provide personal information then the user can remain anonymous.
APP 3 — Collection of solicited personal information
Serendib takes reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect is accurate, up to date, complete and relevant. Serendib verifies the collected sensitive information through Equifax and it is screened through KYC 6 system to confirm its accuracy.
APP 4 — Dealing with unsolicited personal information
Serendib does not sell, trade, or rent personal identification information to others.
APP 5 — Notification of the collection of personal information
Serendib notify users that Serendib collects personal sensitive information and reports all transactions to AUSTRAC. If the user is happy to provide personal information, they are than able to use Serendib services to remit money to Sri Lanka.
APP 6 — Use or disclosure of personal information
Serendib reports all remittance transactions to AUSTRAC and uses Bank of Ceylon Smart Remit system to upload transactions to Sri Lanka. Serendib is an affiliate of Flexewallet. We share information with AUSTRAC, Bank of Ceylon and Flexewallet Pty Ltd (Australian Financial Services Licence Holder no.448066). Flexewallet RNP is a business unit name of Flexewallet Pty Ltd, a 100% owned a subsidiary of Novatti Group Limited (ASX:NOV).
If users decide to opt-in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include Serendib news and updates related to remittances to Sri Lanka. Serendib sends emails and text messages to it’s registered customers time to time. If the registered customer does not want to get any emails or text messages, the use can request to do so.
APP 8 — Cross-border disclosure of personal information
Serendib share information with Bank of Ceylon. Bank of Ceylon is State own bank in Sri Lanka. We use bank of Ceylon to process transaction through Bank of Ceylon Smart Remit Systems.
APP 9 — Adoption, use or disclosure of government-related identifiers
Serendib is an independent remittance provider registered with AUSTRAC. Our registration number is 100370317. We report all transactions to AUSTRAC in a timely matter.
APP 10 — Quality of personal information
Serendib takes reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information it collects is accurate, up-to-date and complete. Procedures and systems verify the validity of the data.
APP 11 — Security of personal information
A qualified Australian IT company monitors our data security and all data is stored in a secure server. This server is monitored the server on a regular basis. Cyber security measures are also implemented.
APP 12 — Access to personal information
Serendib accesses personal information to provide its services. We do not access or use any personal information for any other purpose.
APP 13 — Correction of personal information
Serendib will take reasonable steps to correct personal information to ensure that, having regard to the purpose for which it is held, it is accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant and not misleading.
